The voice of Philip Roth is not hard to recognize. He writes with urgency. He goes right to the core of the drama and doesn't avoid talking about current events such as Clinton's impeachment. I doubt he cares if in the future people say things like, "Clinton's impeachment? That is so '98!"
As the cliche goes: his strength is also his weakness. I whipped through 22 pages only to realize that, while I enjoyed reading his prose, something about his edgy roughness made me put down the book.
