October Surprises

To hear conservative talking heads lament the poor performance of Bush in the first presidential debate is an utter pleasure for this writer. To hear them try their darndest to spin, explain, and offer excuses is even more amusing. This is not to say that a President Kerry is a sure thing. Bush's men are not punching bags; they are plotting and scheming; they're certain to have more tricks up their sleeves. Kerry's strategists are smart not to gloat or slack off; they must move like the best of the chess players and go for the ultimate, devastating, and final attack, with all their might.
