"Days of Heaven" by Terrence Malick

Terrence Malick made only 4 films during the past 32 years, yet the man is highly respected both inside and outside of Hollywood. To understand this unique phenomenon, one needs only to view his 1978 film "Days of Heaven". Cinematically, "Days of Heaven" broke no new grounds, but Malick and the cinematographer, Nestor Almendros, managed to shoot a film of rare beauty.

The music in "Days of Heaven" is hypnotic. Click here to view a simple Flash movie (50 seconds) I made using some photographs found on the Internet (the quality of the photos does not do justice to the gorgeous cinematography) and a short clip of the melancholy theme music composed by the great Ennio Morricone.
